The Farmer and the Snake - An English Essay (With Translation)
One cold winter day, a kind farmer was walking through his field when he found a snake frozen stiff on the ground. The snake was curled up, seemingly close to death. Moved by compassion, the farmer carefully picked up the snake and placed it in his coat to warm it with his body heat.
As time passed, the snake gradually regained its strength. However, once fully revived, it suddenly bit the farmer. The farmer fell to the ground in pain, realizing that he had been harmed by the very creature he had saved. Weakly, he said, "I have been foolish! I should have known that even the most pitiful life could harbor malice."
This story tells us that kindness is a praiseworthy quality, but we must also learn to discern those who truly deserve our help. Not everyone will appreciate your goodwill; sometimes, they may even harm you in return.
