Once upon a time, in the ancient land of China, there was a beautiful legend about the moon and its mysterious beauty. Long ago, it is said that there were ten suns in the sky, causing unbearable heat and hardship for the people on Earth. A brave archer named Hou Yi was determined to save his people.
Hou Yi climbed to the highest mountain and used his powerful bow to shoot down nine of the suns. The people were grateful and admired him greatly. As a reward, the Emperor gave Hou Yi a special elixir of immortality. However, Hou Yi loved his wife, Chang'e, very much and decided to share the elixir with her instead of using it himself.
Chang'e kept the elixir safe, but one day, a thief tried to steal it from her. In a moment of desperation, she quickly drank the elixir herself. Instantly, she felt herself floating upwards, away from the earth towards the heavens. Her destination was the moon, where she would live forever.
Hou Yi, heartbroken by her departure, would often look up at the moon and offer sacrifices to her. People began to admire Chang'e's beauty and grace, believing she had become a goddess of the moon. To this day, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, families gather under the full moon to celebrate the story of Chang'e and the moon's eternal beauty.
This simple yet enchanting tale has been passed down through generations, symbolizing love, sacrifice, and the wonder of the night sky.
