When I was younger, I always slept with my parents. It felt safe and comforting to have them close by, especially when the house seemed so quiet at night. But one day, my mom told me that it was time for me to sleep alone in my own room. At first, I was a little scared, but I knew it was something I needed to do.
That evening, as I lay in my bed, I could hear every creak of the floorboards and every rustle of the curtains. The shadows on the wall looked like strange shapes, and I thought I saw something moving out of the corner of my eye. My heart started racing, and I wanted nothing more than to call out for my mom. But then I reminded myself that this was my chance to be brave.
I closed my eyes tightly and tried to think about happy things—like playing with my friends or eating my favorite snacks. Slowly, the noises around me began to fade, and I felt myself sinking into a deep sleep. When I woke up the next morning, I felt proud of myself. I had made it through the night all by myself!
From that day on, sleeping alone became easier. I realized that sometimes, the things we fear most are not as scary as they seem. And now, whenever I face new challenges, I remember that night and remind myself that I can overcome anything if I just believe in myself.
This experience taught me an important lesson:勇气 (yǒng qì) means facing your fears head-on, even when it’s hard. And who knows? Maybe someday I’ll be able to help someone else feel brave too!
